14 Dec Assistant Chief Chris Milne
Chris Milne has worked in the Fire/EMS industry for the last 27 years. He was hired as a firefighter EMT by the SLCFD in September of 1998. He has worked as a firefighter EMT, engineer, and Captain both in Operations and Support roles prior to being promoted to Assistant Chief. Prior to being assigned to the Operations Bureau, Chris worked as the Assistant Chief of Administration overseeing the Medical, Community Relations, Fire Prevention, Logistics and Technology Divisions.
In addition to his career with the SLCFD Chris has been an active instructor with the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy with Utah Valley University’s Recruit Candidate Academy, Apparatus Driver Operator, and the annual Winter Fire School.
As the Assistant Chief of Operations, Chief Milne oversees City Operations consisting of Battalion 1 and Battalion 2 as well as Airport Operations at the Salt Lake City International Airport. He also serves as the dispatch liaison with SLC911 for the fire department.
Chris is originally from California but has lived in Utah for over 28 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Emergency Service Management from Utah Valley University and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) with emphasis on leadership and management from Upper Iowa University. Additionally, Chris earned an Executive Fire Officer designation through the National Fire Academy.
